A new League of Friends shop has opened its doors at Musgrove in a new building off the Duchess Building main corridor, where the footfall leads to the multi-storey car park. It is the culmination of more than two years’ work by the League, working with the hospital. Shop Director Mike Fry said,

“This is a big step for the League. It has been a lot of work, but it is a long-term project. This is a much nicer environment for volunteers to work in and now the League of Friends are set up for the next 20 years”.

A new service is a state-of-the-art coffee machine, delivering freshly-ground take-away coffee and hot chocolate, and there is a new range of fresh sandwiches. The shop will continue to sell newspapers and magazines, toiletries, second-hand books, cards, sweets and soft toys.

Shop Director Mike Fry commented,

“We are currently open until 4.30pm and then open again from 6.30-8pm. We would like to open more hours, but we need more volunteers in order to do this.”
